Questions
and Answers

to the biggest motor homes and fifth wheels made. Candy Hill
Campground features pull thru sites, concrete pads, gravel pads,
grass sites, water and electric, water, electric and sewer, 30
and 50 amp power services. All camping units must be RVIA
certified.
Candy Hill Campground does not
currently offer tent camping. Most sites include carefully
placed trees for shade. Sleeping in cars, trucks, vans
(non-camping vans) cargo trailers and other vehicles that are
not RVIA certified is prohibited.
Do you
have grass sites?
Candy Hill Campground has many grass sites. Most are
beautiful manicured lawns with trees carefully placed for
shade. If you're looking for a grassy site, look no longer,
Candy Hill Campground is a fantastic spot!
Do you
have rental units or camping cabins?
We do not have rental units or camping cabins.
Do you
have concrete pads?
Concrete pads are available at Candy Hill Campground. Most
are found on full hookup sites and make your stay so much
easier as they eliminate the need to level your R.V.
Do you
have pull thru's?
Pull thru sites are available at Candy Hill Campground. If you
want a pull thru, it is strongly recommended that you make a
reservation to ensure one is saved for you. A pull thru site
can make it easy if you are towing a car or anything else. If
you are towing something big such as a boat or utility
trailer, it is recommended that you check with the campground
on space for such an item. Surely it could be put in storage
during your stay. If you are looking for a pull thru, this
could be of special concern. Candy Hill Campground offers
sites that are super long for such a case but you would want
to make it clear that this is what you are looking for.
Do you
have large campsites?
Yes, there are some very large campsites at Candy Hill
Campground. As long as you call ahead and make your needs
known, we will find a site that best suits you.
Do you
allow long term stays?
Candy Hill Campground allows monthly stays. If you want
prices on monthly stays, call our office at (540) 662-8010.
Due to extremely high demand, availability may be limited.
Do you
have 50 amp services?
What are your
luxury sites?
Our brand new luxury sites are very long pull
through sites that feature a concrete pad, concrete patio, and
full hookup 50 amp service. These sites include 2 adults, 2
children, and a custom built fire ring. March 1 through
October 31 they also include patio furniture and a gas grill
that you can use free of charge. The concrete pads are at
least 60 feet long and most have another 40 to 80 feet of
gravel leading to or from the site. Visit the Rates Page for
pricing.

How far in advance should
reservations be made?
Let us first suggest that
reservations should be made as far in advance as possible. All
through the year, especially during the summer, Candy Hill
Campground can be very busy. As soon as you are able to commit
to your plans, it is recommended that you call and make
reservations. This is important because many weekends there is
a two or three night minimum if you want full hookups. For a
full list of "Special Weekends at Candy Hill Campground" check
out the Activities / Events Page.
FOR:
Apple
Blossom weekend?
Apple Blossom weekend is one of the biggest weekends in
Winchester and of course, one of the biggest weekends at Candy
Hill Campground. For this event, if you want your choice of
site it is recommended that you make your reservation at least
a year in advance. This is not to say that you can not get in
at a later date, but Apple Blossom weekend normally sells out
by February of the year it is scheduled. Full hookups usually
sell out by one year prior to the event. If you want to come
for the Apple Blossom Festival, get your request in early.
Mother's
Day weekend?
Mother's Day weekend is a great one for all you late
deciders. Candy Hill normally notices a low early registration
level for Mother's Day weekend as it closely follows Apple
Blossom and most people were just here. This makes Mother's
Day a great weekend to stay at Candy Hill. Reservations are
still recommended, but not needed as early as many other
popular weekends. Please refer to the Activities
/ Events Page for more information.
Memorial
Day weekend?
This weekend you want to get your reservation in early
during the year. We offer many activities at the campground so
we sell out quickly.
Father's
Day weekend?
Dad's often find themselves at Candy Hill Campground for
one reason or another on Father's Day. If you are planning to
come on Father's Day, try and get your reservation in early as
full hookups often sell out quickly. To find out, refer to the
Activities / Events Page.
July 4th
weekend?
A lot of people love watching the fireworks in Winchester.
This weekend you can reserve a site without too much trouble.
Labor
Day weekend?
Candy Hill Campground starts getting calls early in the
year for Labor Day weekend. Everyone knows this is a big
weekend so you want to reserve early. There are normally
plenty of water and electric sites left over. Cancellations do
happen, so be sure to call and ask about our availability.
Apple
Harvest weekend?
This is a favorite weekend for many people. It is
recommended to get your reservation in early. If this sounds
fun, you want to be here: Harvest Festival, live music and a
Crafts Fair at Jim Barnett Park.
Yes, we allow most household pets. Dogs, Cats, or anything else

off-leash fenced dog run area.

Yes, Candy Hill Campground is
open year round. The only thing that is not open over the
winter is the pool. During the winter months our bathhouse,
laundromat, game room and main office are all open.
Is your water on in the
winter?
Our bathhouse is heated so it is open 24
hours a day and always has water. We do have a water policy
that starts November 15th for the hydrants at campsites. At
8pm or at 36 degrees, whichever occurs first we ask that you
disconnect your water hose because the water hydrants at all
campsites will be locked. At 8am or at 36 degrees, whichever
occurs last you may reconnect your water hose as the hydrants
will be unlocked. If it is already too cold to have the water
on at the sites when you check in we can still give you a
fresh water fill on the way to your site. This policy ends
March 15th of each year in the spring.
Candy Hill Campground does
not participate in any discount programs, we just do our best
to keep our prices reasonable.
Do you offer storage for
campers, trailers, and popups?
Candy Hill provides storage
year round for all kinds of R.V.'s. If you are interested in
storing something at Candy Hill Campground, call for more
information at: (800) 462-0545 or e-mail us at: reservations@candyhill.com.
Are you near a golf course?
Yes, we are right next door to Rock Harbor Golf course and
only about a half hour from Shenandoah Valley Golf Club. Both
courses are very well kept and are open to the public.
Can you help first-time
campers?

many people that own R.V.'s that would be glad to help you.
Often, if you need help backing in or with basic instructions,
staff will be able to help. Also, the campground store carries
many items needed for RVing just in case you forget something at
home.
Do you allow clubs or groups?
Clubs and Groups are welcome. Clubs and groups do not get
any special discounts on their site fees, but do get use of the
Pavilion/Club Lounge, Trolley Bus or the gathering place as long
as they reserve and arrange use prior to arrival and meet
minimum number of sites needed to obtain use of each or all
facilities.
